Olympic Torch visits Newquay
The Olympic Torch Relay leaves Lands End at 7 a.m. on the 19th May and at just after 1 .p.m will arrive in Newquay. The Newquay route and timing for the Olympic Torch on this once in a lifetime opportunity has been revealed and is believed to be:

The Official Local Torch Bearer for Newquay is Andy Ferris who was nominated for his work with surf life saving. He has volunteered as Sport Director for Surf Life Saving Great Britain – the charity for volunteer lifeguards – for four years.
Andy Ferris has organised a number of regional and national competitions as well as youth and leadership camps to help develop and grow the sport, as well as putting a full coaching, ocean safety and skills programme in place. He also coaches at club, county and national level in his own time.
There are numerous plans underway to make this a memorable day for Newquay, the town, its residents and visitors including a sports festival at the Newquay Sports Centre.
