Newquay has a fantastic new state of the art cinema offering all the latest 3D and digital sound mod cons for your movie viewing pleasure.
The Lighthouse Cinema, Newquay opened in May 2011, bringing the world of big screen entertainment back to Newquay for the first time since we lost our old cinema the Camelot some 15 years ago or more. The cinema is situated in King Street just before the Central Inn as you drop into Central Square, and was previously the site for The Victoria Cinema and Vic Bars, which was one of 3 cinemas in Newquay at one time.
The Lighthouse Cinema Newquay has four screens, two on the ground floor and two on first floor which are accessible via stairs or the foyer lift. The cinema features all digital NEC projection, and screens 1 and 4 feature MasterImage 3D systems. All screens are equipped with Digital sound systems and wall to wall screens for maximum picture size. Screen one features Dolby Surround 7.1 sound for selected films and each screen has designated wheelchair spaces, infra-red hearing systems, audio description and subtitling facilities.
Screen 1, the largest auditoria, has a raised stage area and facilities capable for live entertainment, conferencing and special presentations. On ground floor the cinema has box office and concession areas, and a small licensed bar for patrons to enjoy a drink prior to their movie starting.
